Dermatology Wart Removal
Warts are a type of skin infection that are able to affect different areas of the body. In most cases they are very painful, irritating, and embarrassing when people can see them. Because of this people do everything that they can to make sure that they are removed as quickly and safely as is possible.
In order to achieve this many people consult their dermatologist for the right type of wart removal. These procedures are very effective at removing the wart and keeping it from growing back. In order to know what you should do you must first know what your options are.
Medicine
The dermatologist has special medication that will help to fight against the HPV virus that causes the warts. These are topical medicines that help to remove the wart using salicylic acid gel and cantharidin. Is the patient is allergic to these chemicals then the dermatologist will recommend immunotherapy. Also interferon may be inserted into the warts – which will cause the immune system to simply reject the growth.
Cryotherapy
This is the most popular method that is used. This is the process of freezing the wart using liquid nitrogen. They will either it apply to the wart using a probe or they will spray it on. This will destroy the tissue and help to reduce the amount of bleeding and scarring that will occur from other treatments.
Electrocautery
This is a treatment that is also used often by dermatologists. They will use a small probe that has an electric current running through it. This is applied to the wart and will help to burn it away. This reduces the risk of it bleeding.
Laser
Some dermatologists will use laser therapy to help burn the wart off and vaporize the tissue. They will use an anesthetic to help reduce the pain that is felt before the operation begins. This is one of the more expensive wart removal treatments.
